Give your books a second life: donate or sell them to Boeken-Plein.nl

Do you have a closet full of books you no longer read? At Boeken-Plein.nl, you'd be giving them a second life. You can donate your books to us or sell them for a small fee — and a portion of the proceeds goes directly to the Stichting Boeken Steunen Mensen (Books Support People Foundation), organizer of the well-known book fair in Venlo/Blerick.

This way, you declutter, help the environment, and support a good cause. A win-win-win, you could say.

Why hand in your books to us?

Sustainable: books gathering dust at your place will find a new reader with us.
Social: a portion of our proceeds goes to the book fair of Stichting Boeken Steunen Mensen, which in turn supports charities.
Easy: no hassle with selling them yourself on Marktplaats or second-hand apps — we take care of it for you.
Fair: you can choose between donating or receiving a small fee, depending on what you prefer.

How does it work?

Fill in the hand-in/sale form. Indicate how many books you want to hand in, in which genres, and whether you want to donate or sell them.
We assess your books. Based on title, condition, and current demand, we determine if we can take them over and, in case of a sale, what the fee will be.
You hand in your books. You can do this by bringing them to our drop-off point, or (for larger quantities) by having them picked up.
You receive a message. For donations, you'll get a confirmation and thank you; for sales, a proposal you can accept or decline.
We give your books a second chance. They will find a spot in our webshop, or they will go — along with a portion of the proceeds — to the book fair.

What do we accept?

Novels, non-fiction, children's books, study books, and more
Dutch and foreign language books
Books in reasonable to good condition (no loose pages, water damage, or strong odor)

Donate or sell: what do you choose?

Donate Your books go entirely to a good cause. Perfect if you mainly want to declutter without any fuss, and you appreciate knowing that you're contributing to the book fair and the causes it supports.

Sell You receive a small fee per book or per box, depending on the title and condition. Even then, a portion of our margin goes to the book fair — so you're still contributing when you sell.

Collaboration with the book fair

Boeken-Plein.nl collaborates with Stichting Boeken Steunen Mensen, known for its annual second-hand book and music fair in Blerick — with around 150,000 books, it's the largest non-commercial book fair in the Netherlands. The proceeds from these fairs go to a new charity each year. With every book you hand in to us, you contribute to this.
