Service & information
Quality & warranty
You buy a book to read, keep or give as a gift. That is why each copy includes information to help you choose thoughtfully.
New or second-hand
Most of our range consists of new books. We also offer second-hand copies. Check the product page for the condition, any notes and available photos.
What do the condition labels mean?
- New: unread, with no signs of use.
- Like new: virtually no signs of use.
- Very good: light signs of use, well kept and complete.
- Good: normal signs of use, readable and complete.
- Fair: visible wear, possibly creases or markings; readable and complete.
- Reading copy: clear signs of use, but fully readable.
Inspect the copy
A publisher's cover image identifies the edition; a photo of the actual copy helps assess its condition. Is that distinction unclear, or would you like to know about damage, annotations or the cover? Ask us before ordering.
If something is not right
A purchase must meet what you can reasonably expect of it. This statutory right also applies to second-hand books, taking the described condition into account. Are pages missing, have you received a different edition or is there an undescribed defect? Contact us with your order number and an explanation of the problem.
We look for a suitable solution
Depending on the problem, we discuss repair, replacement or another solution in accordance with your statutory rights. An identical second-hand copy is not always available. We do not make reporting a defect subject to a mandatory photo or a deadline that limits your statutory rights.
Simply changed your mind?
That is what the cooling-off period is for. The Returns page explains how to withdraw within 14 days of receipt.
