The Chameleon always ready H de Roos

When Hielke and Sietse have to deliver an order for their father in Jonkersveen, they meet a man there. He is carrying two suitcases and asks the boys where hotel 'De Gouden Leeuw' is. They explain to the man, who turns out to be Herman Heringa, that he is in the wrong village and offer him a ride. In the days that follow, Hielke and Sietse experience more things with Herman, as well as with the Stoelwinder family. Father Stoelwinder, in particular, is a special person, as he is an inventor. The boys have seen Stoelwinder in the workshop a few times when he needed some pipes or something like that. He seems to be working on some kind of wonder machine...
