When Hielke, Sietse, and Gerben return from the village across the lake, they see constable Zwart suddenly jump into the water. As they get closer, they see a girl in the water. After the girl is rescued, Zwart doesn't feel well; he has a high fever and must stay in bed. The young, zealous officer Kortstra is appointed as his replacement. It quickly becomes clear that he needs some time to adjust to life in Lenten. He also immediately has plenty to do when a jewel theft occurs. Gerben and the chimney builder Jaarsma are suspected. Meanwhile, the boys decide to help the poor children in Hong Kong by baking oliebollen (Dutch donuts). Of course, Kees can't restrain himself, and he is allowed to eat as many oliebollen as he can, at Sietse's expense. Let's hope that turns out well.
